1. The U.S. tops 32.2 million covid-19 cases with more than 575,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported 4 new deaths and 254 new cases on Thursday bringing Maine’s death toll to 782 with 125 Mainers currently hospitalized. More than 37% of Mainers have been fully vaccinated. (WMTW)

A New York Times Covid-tracker says based on the number of new COVID cases in the last two weeks compared to the metro population, the Lewiston-Auburn area has the third-worst outbreak in the nation (the data includes all of Androscoggin County). Central Maine Healthcare Chief of Hospital Medicine said the past three weeks have been the busiest of the pandemic, with an average of 17-19 seriously ill patients each day. (WGME)
3. Registered nurses at Maine Medical Center voted Thursday to form their first union. Hospital administrators had tried to persuade the nurses against forming the union. (WMTW)
