1. Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire after 11 days of conflict. Thursday, Israel’s security cabinet voted unanimously to “accept the Egyptian initiative for a bilateral cease-fire without any conditions” that will take effect at 2 a.m. on Friday. (IG)
2. The U.S. tops 33 million covid-19 cases with more than 588,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported 9 new deaths and 219 new cases on Thursday bringing Maine’s death toll to 816 with 104 Mainers hospitalized. More than 49% of Mainers are fully vaccinated. (WMTW)
3. Maine’s mask mandate is officially coming to an end on Monday. That’s also the day that physical distancing requirements indoors are ending. It’s still recommended that people who aren’t vaccinated continue to wear masks indoors. Kids will still have to wear masks in schools. Businesses can still require customers or employees to wear a mask and can ask people to prove that they’re vaccinated. (WGME)
