1.Tokyo Olympics athletes will NOT be allowed to wear “Black Lives Matter” apparel this summer. The IOC revealed its broad policy two weeks ago on no demonstrations on the field of play, during an official ceremony or at the podium. This week officials have now confirmed “BLM” apparel is included in that ban. (TMZ)
2. The U.S. tops 32.6 million covid-19 cases with more than 580,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported 2 new deaths and 318 new cases on Thursday bringing Maine’s death toll to 793 with 129 Mainers currently hospitalized. Over 42% of Mainers have been fully vaccinated. Vaccinations without an appointment will begin today at the Auburn Mall. (WMTW)
3. A fire inside Folger Library at the University of Maine Orono was the result of arson. The building was evacuated, and no one was hurt. A $2,500 reward for information leading to the conviction of anyone responsible is being offered. (WGME)
