1. House Democrats opened their first day of arguments in Trump’s impeachment trial with never-before-seen security footage from inside the Capitol that showed the attack unfolding. They painted Trump as an “inciter in chief” who riled up his supporters and falsely convinced them the election had been stolen, culminating in the deadly attack. It’s still doubtful enough Republicans will side with Democrats to convict. (WMTW)

2. The U.S. tops 27.2 million covid-19 cases with over 471,000 deaths The Maine CDC reported 2 new deaths and 253 new cases on Wednesday bringing Maine’s death toll to 641 with 112 Mainers currently hospitalized. The first case of the more contagious UK variant of COVID-19 has been detected in Maine. (WMTW)

3. Portland’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade is going virtual on March 14. The Irish American Club of Maine is encouraging people to send videos of themselves celebrating from home. March 4 is the deadline to submit. (WGME)

4. Anthony’s Italian Kitchen in the Old Port is a recipient of The Barstool Fund. The restaurant has lost more than $300,000 in revenue since the pandemic began and has had to lay-off some employees. Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, gave owner Tony Barrasso the call. Barrasso will receive $25,000 this month and every month as long as he needs it. Mae’s Café & Bakery in Bath became a recipient last month. (WMTW)

5. McDonald’s has seen the complaints on social media and is bringing back the fan-favorite Hi-C Orange drink after a nearly four-year absence from soda fountains. The orange-colored beverage will begin reappearing in select U.S. restaurants this month and will be available nationwide by June. (WMTW)
