1. Wednesday Barack Obama blasted former reality TV show host Donald Trump in a speech dripping with ridicule ahead of tonight’s debate. Obama pounced on Trump’s admission that there is “not much” he would change in one of the world’s least successful pandemic responses that has killed more than 222,000 Americans. (CNN)

2.The U.S. tops 8.3 million Coronavirus cases w/ over 222,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported no new deaths and 38 additional cases on Wednesday. The statewide death toll is 146 w/ 637 active cases.(WMTW)

3. On Tuesday, Windham police posted photos on Facebook, saying they collected more than 80 capped and uncapped hypodermic syringes right off a walking trail in Windham. They stress that if you do see a needle on the ground, do not touch it. Instead call police so they can handle and discard those types of things safely. (WGME)

4. An adult from Cumberland County recently contracted a mosquito-borne illness, likely West Nile virus (WNV), Maine CDC says, marking the first case in a Maine resident since 2018. (NEWS CENTER)
