1. President Biden said that the U.S. is on track to complete its evacuation of Afghanistan by Aug. 31. He added “it depends on the Taliban continuing to cooperate and allow access to the airport to those who are transporting out and no disruptions to our operation.” (WMTW)

2. Maine has seen a sharp increase in the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19. 117 people were in a hospital with COVID-19 as of Tuesday. About half, 59, were in the ICU, and 26 were on ventilators. One month ago, 31 people were hospitalized with COVID-19. (WMTW)
