1. A standoff in Livermore Falls that involved hostages ended Tuesday with the suspect dead and the hostages safe. A bomb squad spent the day disarming several explosive devices found in the home. The crisis started early Monday morning, when police say Donald White of Jay broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend. (WGME)

2. The U.S. tops 29 million covid-19 cases with more than 527,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported 17 new deaths and 133 new cases on Tuesday bringing Maine’s death toll to 723 with 75 Mainers currently hospitalized. Over 21% of Mainers have received at least the first dose of the Covid-vaccine. (WMTW)

3. Racist flyers have turned up in Portland’s West End. The flyer is addressed to “white men” and shows Nazi imagery, promotes white supremacy and denounces Black Lives Matter. (WGME)

4. Casco Bay Lines is planning to replace a 32 year old ferry that carries passengers to Peaks Island with a hybrid-powered vessel by year’s end. The new ferry is bigger and can hold 599 passengers and 16 vehicles. (WMTW)
