5 Things You Need To Know Ryan Deelon Krissy

1. Michael Phelps left nobody in doubt just who was No. 1 Tuesday. The world’s most successful Olympian took his remarkable record to 21 gold medals on a stunning night for the United States in the pool. Phelps won the 200-meter butterfly and the US team took gold in the 4×200 meter freestyle relay. (CNN)

2. Tuesday night, Sanford police arrested 25-year-old Karl A. Jacques of Brooklyn, New York, for allegedly buying high-value gift cards at several Hannaford locations with fraudulent credit cards. Police seized approximately 40 credit cards bearing Jacques’ name and $4,800 in gift cards. Scams like these begin with illegally obtained credit card numbers, which are then sold online. The cards are typically used until their limit is reached or until the bank shuts them off. (WMTW)

3. With a couple of swipes by an excavator’s jaws, the famed graffiti wall that has adorned the back wall of the Asylum nightclub and concert venue in Portland came tumbling down this week. The demolition is part of a $9.1 million expansion for Asylum, its first major modernization since it opened in 1997. The owners of the club say a wall on the north side of the building will continue to be available to artists, and they are exploring using removable panels to offer more square footage for art. (PH)

4. Biddeford’s Brian Dumoulin, the first Stanley Cup winner from Maine, brought home the big prize. Police estimated 5,000 people congregated yesterday in the Biddeford Ice Arena parking lot for the opportunity to see Dumoulin and the iconic Stanley Cup, with many others getting their looks as the pair traveled from Biddeford High to the arena in the bucket lift of a fire truck. 5. One of the telltale signs that fall is here–the pumpkin spice latte–has decided to force its way into summer. Last year, Starbucks released its infamous pumpkin spice latte on September 8. This year, McDonald’s is selling its version of the sorority girl staple starting on August 31. (Eater)
