1. On Thursday, the U.S. became the world leader in coronavirus infections, surpassing China and Italy with at least 81,321 people known to have been infected. The U.S. has also surpassed 1,000 deaths, which is currently less than those countries, but is on a worrying trajectory. (NY TIMES)

2. As of Thursday, the number of coronavirus cases in Maine is now 155. Sixteen cases are healthcare workers, according to the Maine CDC. Nearly 3,400 tests have come back negative, but the state still faces a significant backlog of test samples waiting for analysis. 16 people were considered recovered and had been released from isolation. 3. NH’s Governor has issued a statewide “stay at home” order starting Friday through May 4. That order does keep essential businesses open but tells people to stay home for all-but essential work and travel, and to practice social distancing when outside. The governor also extended school closures through May 4. (WGME)

4. Gov. Janet Mills on Thursday afternoon announced the Maine tax filing deadline is moving to July 15th in line w/ the new federal tax deadline. (PRESS HERALD)

5. Aroma Joe’s is giving away 16 ounces cups of iced or hot coffee to those on the front lines of this pandemic, healthcare workers. According to the company, more than 9,000 cups have been given out since the campaign started on March 16th. The promotion continues through the end of the month. (WABI)
