1. Portland police are investigating a stabbing on Portland Street. Police say the public is not in danger, but they still have not arrested the suspect. The suspect is described as s white man wearing a hoodie. (WGME)

2. Maine Special Olympics officials are relieved after President Trump said Thursday he wants the federal government to continue funding the Special Olympics, an abrupt reversal from his own budget proposal that eliminated federal money for the charity and sparked bipartisan outrage. (Press Herald)

3. Two Maine breweries are among fastest-growing in the country. “Lone Pine” in Portland and “Mast Landing” in Westbrook made the annual list compiled by the Brewers Association. Breweries on the list range from 50-barrel to more than 40,000-barrel capacity. (WGME)

4. Another Portland chef has won a competition on national TV. Natalie DiBenedetto, the owner of “Figgy’s” on Congress Street in Portland, won “Chopped” on the Food Network. It actually happened last year, but the episode aired on Tuesday, and she’s had to keep the win secret this whole time. A cook at “Duckfat” in Portland also recently won chopped, as did the executive chef at “Evo Kitchen and Bar.” (WGME)

5. Maine Medical Center’s baby boom is now a baby explosion. The hospital says 11 staff members in the emergency room department are pregnant. A member of the ER department shared a photo featuring nine of the 11 pregnant staff members. The announcement comes a few days after the hospital said nine nurses at its labor and delivery unit are expecting babies in the next few months. (WMTW)
