1. Britain and the world are laying Queen Elizabeth II to rest today at a state funeral that has drawn presidents and kings, princes and prime ministsers — and up to a million people lined the streets of London to say a final goodbye.

2. While appearing on ’60 Minutes’, President Biden said he believes the COVID-19 pandemic is over. The President said “The pandemic is over. We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lot of work on it but the pandemic is over.” Last week World Health Organization officials wrote that the end of the pandemic was “in sight”, adding “We have never been in a better position to end the pandemic. We’re not there yet, but the end is in sight.” A Johns Hopkins University study shows that there have been about 65,000 new COVID-19 cases reported each day over the past two weeks.

3. Tenants of an apartment complex on Austin St. in Westbrook had been paying $850 per month in rent for a two-bedroom is a bargain in today’s rental market. A rent increase of $650 a month from a new landlord has tenants scrambling. That’s a total increase of roughly 76%.

4. The Portland school board will vote Tuesday on limiting high school choice. The district says changes in enrollment between Portland and Deering high schools are making it difficult to anticipate resource and staffing needs.
