  1. The death of a three-year-old Edgecomb girl on Christmas morning has been ruled a homicide.  Police are still investigating. (WGME)

 

  1. Ten people escaped a home that caught fire on Elm Street in Sanford late last night.  11-year-old Matthew Perkins alerted his family and they were able to make it out safe.  A firefighter was injured but is said to be doing ok. (PH)

 

  1. The CDC has reported that life expectancy has declined for the 2nd straight year from 77 years to 76.1 years.  Covid and drug overdoses have been credited for the drop.  (WMTW)

 

  1. Families from Biddeford to Auburn including most of the Cider Hill community of OOB haven’t seen a piece of mail since well before Christmas. The USPS has said staffing shortages and sickness have created system challenges. (WGME)

 

  1. According to the National Retail Federation, retailers expect almost 18 percent of merchandise sold for the holiday to be brought back.  Maine mall was packed yesterday and school vacation is also boosting foot traffic. (WGME)
