1. Authorities on Monday released the name of the suspect who shot and killed rapper Nipsey Hussle and injured several others. The suspected gunman has been identified as Eric Holder, a 29-year-old Los Angeles resident, according to a news release by the Los Angeles Police Department. He remained at large and is wanted for homicide, the release said. (FoxNews)

2. Today is Equal Pay Day. Equal Pay Day was originated by the National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE) in 1996 as a public awareness event to illustrate the gap between men’s and women’s wages. Tuesday was selected to represent how far into the next work week women must work to earn what men earned the previous week. Women in Maine make about 82 cents for every dollar men make, according to an annual report from the American Association of University Women. (WGME)

3. Tom Brady tweeted on Monday that he had decided to retire. The six-time Super Bowl champion has joined Twitter and his first post said simply, “I’m retiring. In my spare time, I’ll be tweeting.” An email from a Twitter spokeswoman confirmed the account, but it also referred to the fact that the tweet came on April Fools’ Day. (PressHerald)

4. Burger King has started serving a plant-based Whopper called the Impossible Whopper. The vegetarian patties are made by Silicon Valley start-up Impossible Foods. The Impossible Whopper is currently only available at St. Louis area locations, but the company hopes to expand across the country if everything goes well. (NYTimes)

5. A new study finds that playing EDM or dubstep music can ward off mosquitoes. When researchers played Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites,” female mosquitoes (the ones that bite) attacked humans less often or delayed their attacks entirely. Scientists believe that’s because the track’s extreme high and low frequencies disrupted the mosquitoes’ desires to feed and mate. (BBC)
