  1. Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the cryptocurrency company FTX, was arrested in the Bahamas on Monday. SBF is facing charges of wire fraud, wire fraud conspiracy, securities fraud, securities fraud conspiracy, and money laundering. He made news last month after FTX filed for bankruptcy leaving over 1 million customers unable to access their cryptocurrency. (CNN)

 

  1. CVS and Walgreens have agreed to pay Maine millions of dollars as part of a $10.7 billion settlement of a lawsuit filed by more than a dozen states over the pharmacy chains’ contribution to the nation’s opioid crisis. (PH)

 

  1. 79-year-old Carol Ivers was killed and two others were injured in a head-on crash in Turner on Sunday. Police believe a second truck may have been racing the truck that hit Ivers’ vehicle. They are asking for info from anyone who may have seen an Army green Dodge pickup racing on Center Street in Auburn. (WGME)

 

  1. Lobstermen and women protested Whole Foods in Portland on Monday, after they decided to stop selling Maine lobster. Many see Whole Foods’ decision as a warning sign for others who might ban lobster. Hello Fresh and Blue Apron, began boycotting lobster earlier this year. (WGME)

 

  1. Twitter Blue was made available again on Monday in certain countries. This time, Twitter Blue will have a review section of accounts to battle impersonators. The features include the blue checkmark, the ability to upload high-quality video, and tweet editing. Twitter will also roll out verified gold checkmarks for businesses and grey checkmarks for government officials and offices. (TC)
