  1. On Monday, the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection said there was enough evidence to refer Trump for four crimes: obstructing an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the government, making false statements to the federal government, and inciting or assisting an insurrection. The Department of Justice is not obligated to investigate or charge Trump, but if it happens, the former president’s intention to run for office in 2024 could be halted. (NBC)

 

  1. The Department of Justice is warning Maine parents about financial “sextortion” schemes targeting boys. Victims are tricked into providing explicit photos or videos, and then the perpetrators will demand money and threaten to release the images to family members and friends of the victim if they don’t pay.   1. The nor’easter, that carried over into Saturday, left more than 100,000 CMP customers without power in Maine.  Thousands are still in the dark.  Oxford County customers are being told by CMP to brace for one more day without power.  (WGME)

 

  1. The list of top 10 best botanical garden holiday lights displays was released by USA Today, with the Gardens Aglow in Boothbay coming in at No. 3. It takes the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens team 12 weeks to set up the display and 10 weeks to take it down. No other displays in New England made the top 10. (WMTW)  

 

  1. Teams gathered for the first ever in-person fall esports high school state championship at Central Maine Community College Monday. Teams competed in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Rocket League and League of Legends. (WGME)
