On January 11th, 2019 @ 8pm Lil Uzi Vert “retired” from music via his Instagram Story. The reason for his “retirement” was his Record Label, Generation Now. “Fans were expecting Uzi to drop his sophomore studio album, Eternal Atake, sometime in 2019, especially after he teased the project back in December. During his homecoming Lil Uzi Vert & Friends show in Philadelphia, the 24-year-old rapper told the crowd that the highly-anticipated project was finally completed. While he didn’t share its release date, he seemed to hint that it would drop in the coming weeks. However, the future of the album is now up in the air, given Uzi’s recent announcement.” iHeart Radio explained after an interview with Uzi.
Luckily for us; Rap Game legend, Jay-Z, signed Uzi to his label Roc Nation. This meant that Lil Uzi Vert could return to music. Shortly after being signed he released the single “Free Uzi” on the pay to stream music app, TIDAL. Sanguine Paradise is the first publicly released song by Lil Uzi since the January 11th “retirement”. Uzi thanks Roc Nation for “saving his career”.
