  2. Obama’s final State of the Union address was last night. During it, he urged Americans to focus on the economy, technology, security, and democracy. He also called out Donald Trump, saying “When politicians insult Muslims, when a mosque is vandalized, or a kid bullied, that doesn’t make us safer. That’s not telling it like it is,It’s just wrong. It diminishes us in the eyes of the world. It makes it harder to achieve our goals. And it betrays who we are as a country.”

  3. Making a Murderer’s Steven Avery has filed an appeal with the court in which he asks the judge to throw out his conviction. He would like the court to declare a mistrial.

  4. Governor Paul LePage says he may “skip” the State of the State speech and just write a letter to legislature instead. The governor says it would be ‘silliness’ to discuss the State of the State before a group that’s been threatening to impeach him.

  5. Portland police are investigating a string of 6 burglaries at local gas stations and convenience stores that occurred between December 16th-January 11th.
