Biz Markie has died after a series of complications from diabetes that he’s been fighting for more than a year. He was 57-years-old. A family source said that Biz passed away in a Baltimore hospital at 6:25 PM Friday night. His wife, Tara Hall, held his hand as he took his last breath. Biz’s manager issued a statement saying, “Biz created a legacy of artistry that will forever be celebrated by his industry peers and his beloved fans whose lives he was able to touch through music, spanning over 35 years.” Biz made classic jams like Nobody Beats The Biz and Vapors. In 1989, he reached mainstream success with his single, Just a Friend. He made cameos in the movie Men In Black II, and the TV show Spongebob Squarepants. He also appeared on the children’s show Yo Gabba Gabba, where he taught kids to beatbox.
