
It’s about time! Fans have been awaiting this news for a long time and think it’s well deserved. MTV announced that Missy Elliott will receive the Video Vanguard Award this year at the VMAs.
Anyone who has ever seen her music videos knows that it’s evident why her art deserves to be honored. MTV Internationals’s co-brand head Bruce Gillmer commented on the news and said “Missy’s impact on the music landscape is indelible. Her creative vision across production, performance and songwriting is unmatched.”
The hip-hop artist responded to the exciting news:

Elliott will also perform at the ceremony and accept the award, which honors artists for their contributions to the world of music videos. Past recipients include Madonna, Beyondé, Rihanna, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, and Britney Spears.
The 2019 VMAs will take place Monday, August 26th at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. Congrats to Missy Elliot on this huge honor she certainly deserves it after all these years of creating such iconic work!
