In a big example of “misreading the room,” The GAP’s Twitter account tried to bring us all together during this divisive election. The account tweeted a picture of a red and blue hoodie stitched together – the blue representing Democrats and the red repping Republicans. The GAP captioned the tweet saying, “The one thing we know is that together, we can move forward. Blue heart emoji, red heart emoji.”
Twitter came for the “fake” sentiment forcing The GAP to delete the tweet. One person commented, “Glad to see we’re all united in our hatred of this tweet.” Another tweet said, “At least we could all come together as a nation today to tell The GAP to go f**k itself.” Some people just said the hoodie was hideous. One person tweeted, “If there’s one thing our divided nation can come together on, it’s that this sweatshirt is ass ugly.”
