All the hard “Work” that Rihanna has put into her career, from musician, actress, entrepreneur, non-profit founder, beauty mogul, and fashion designer has lead her to end up on Forbes’ annual list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women for 2019. Who took the number 1 spot? None other than the Fenty mogul, Rihanna. The “Only Girl in The World” singer recently became the world’s richest female musician with a net worth of $600 million, beating Madonna ($570 million) and Beyonce ($400 million), reported by The Guardian. According to ELLE, the 31 year old musician owes most of her wealth to her “partnership with luxury good company, LVMH, with whom she launched her Fenty Beauty cosmetics line with in 2017.” Forbes states, “Fenty Beauty generated approximately $570 million in revenue last year” and by partnering up with LVMH to launch the Fenty clothing line, “Rihanna will become the first black woman to run a major fashion house in Paris.”
In regards to her clothing line venture, Rihanna told the New York Times, “I want to be as disruptive as possible…the brand is not traditional.” LVMH’s chairman, Bernard Arnault states he realized through his partnership with Fenty Beauty, “he discovered a true entrepreneur, a real C.E.O. and a terrific leader” through Rihanna. When LVMH offered to partner up with Rihanna on creating her own fashion house, the nine time winning Grammy Singer stated, “to me it was a no-brainer because LVMH is a machine…Bernard Arnault was so enthusiastic; he trusted me and my vision,” reports Elle.
“I love the process of figuring out what the new idea is going to be, where we going next” states Rihanna. “That’s the unique thing about this brand, I get to do something new every time…we don’t really decide who the Fenty woman is, we just do what I love to and what I love to wear, which I love to explore.” The clothing line launched on May 22 and will be based in Paris.
