1. At least 79 people were killed, and 160 others were injured after a roof collapsed at a popular nightclub in the Dominican Republic. Politicians, athletes, and others were attending a merengue concert on Tuesday in Santo Domingo when the tragedy happened. Merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who was performing at the time of the collapse, also died in the disaster. Rescuers spent hours recovering survivors from the debris. (CBS)
2. A Bridgton man is accused of threatening to shoot President Donald Trump. He told a secret service agent that he previously wanted to shoot President George W. Bush and now wanted to shoot Trump. (WGME)
3. A Kingfield man was the person who died in an accident at Sugarloaf Mountain over the weekend. Carrabassett Valley Police Chief said the man dropped something when he was on the chair lift. When he went to retrieve the item, he ended up on a trail that was closed due to icy conditions. He started to walk down the trail, lost his footing and slid into a clump of trees. (WMTW)
4. Yom Kippur and Eid al-Fitr will be included in Portland’s school calendar next year following a unanimous vote by the school board Tuesday night. Muslim students currently miss out on school because the holiday is not recognized. (PH)
5. Despite chilly rain and a surprise snow squall before first pitch, the Portland Sea Dogs powered through and played their home opener against New Hampshire Tuesday night. The game went into extra innings, with the Sea Dogs pulling off a 2-1 win in the 10th. (WGME)
