1. A Washington County man who faked his own drowning to dodge fraud charges has been caught! 51-year-old Gregory Heimann was arrested in Missouri after investigators say he stole more than $240,000 from the VA by pretending to be paraplegic. Heimann vanished in 2024 after leaving home with a canoe, sparking a massive search, but was later found alive. He now faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. (PH)
2. Maine is seeing record wildfires this month, more than 200 so far in August, the most in at least 20 years. Normally, the state averages around 40. Experts say drought conditions and lack of rain are fueling the flames. Forest rangers have boosted staffing and equipment and are urging people to be extra cautious with campfires and burning until conditions improve. (NCM)
3. A small earthquake shook parts of Maine early Tuesday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey says the 2.5 magnitude quake struck near Vinalhaven around 3:49 a.m. People as far as Shapleigh reported feeling it, though most reports came from Rockland and Camden. No damage was reported. Maine typically sees a few small quakes like this every year. (WMTW)

5. Cracker Barrel is bringing Uncle Herschel back! After backlash over a new modern logo, the restaurant chain announced Tuesday they’re returning to the classic design with Uncle Herschel sitting in his chair by the barrel. The company says it listened to fans and will stick with the logo that’s been around since 1977. (TMZ)
