1. The gun found on Luigi Mangione matched shell casings found at the site of the shooting, New York City’s police commissioner said yesterday. Luigi’s fingerprints also matched a water bottle and a snack bar wrapper that police found near the scene in midtown Manhattan. Mangione’s lawyer has cautioned the public against prejudging the case. 3. Blaze Pizza, an Atlanta-based chain, will open its first Maine shop on Tuesday in Scarborough. It plans to give away a personal-sized pizza to everyone who stops by the store that day – or one pie a week for a year, for the first 25 people in line. The chain offers customizable, made-to-order pizzas that cook in about three minutes – an approach styled after Chipotle. (PH)

More than 150,000 reported that Meta’s WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook apps were down yesterday afternoon. “We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps,” Meta said in a post on X. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.” (NYP)
5. Six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach Bill Belichick was named the new head coach at North Carolina on Wednesday night. UNC officials said the sides agreed to a five-year deal pending approval by the board of trustees, which is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting today. This will be his first college coaching job. Belichick’s father, Steve, served as an assistant coach for the Tar Heels from 1953 to ’55. Belichick was most recently spotted on the red carpet for The Museum Gala last week in Manhattan, NY with his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson. He reportedly met with UNC officials in Manhattan the same day. (NYP)
