1. Uniques and Antiques and neighboring business Oarwood Restaurant in Ogunquit burnt down Saturday night. Fire crews from eight surrounding communities arrived at Perkins Cove to help put out the second alarm fire. The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the flames. (WGME)
2. Light now is expected overnight until the early afternoon Tuesday, before exiting to sea. Maine’s Total Weather expects most of the state will see 1-3 inches of accumulation with an isolated 3-4 inches possible if you reside near the Midcoast or Downeast. If Portland measures one inch of accumulation by 7 AM on the 25th, it will be the 1st white Christmas since 2021! (WMTW)
3. If approved, Portland could be seeing a new music venue that can hold up to 3,300 people The 66,000-square-foot multi-purpose venue is expected to host more than 125 events yearly. Planners intend to build on Cumberland Avenue, next to Merrill Auditorium, taking over a parking lot and long-vacated printing press buildings. The goal is to open the venue by late 2027. (WGME)
4. After nearly 40 years, Party City is going out of business. The company’s CEO told corporate employees that last Friday was their last day of employment, adding that there was no severance for them and that their benefits were ending. Party City will have all locations closed by February 28th, citing inflation and a helium shortage for balloons as its biggest financial hurdles. (CNN)
