1. Firefighters are facing challenging conditions in their battle against the Los Angeles wildfires, with powerful winds forecast over the next 24 hours. The total area burned by the Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires is about 60 square miles, an area larger than Paris. A new blaze, the Auto Fire, broke out late Monday in Ventura County, part of an area under the highest fire threat as winds pick up. (CNN)
2. Eight Maine Forest Rangers and 12 volunteer firefighters are headed to California to help fight the devastating wildfires. The team will arrive in California today to provide relief to first responders on the ground. (WGME)
3. Parents have been accused in a cheating scandal at Cape Elizabeth High School. A letter from the principal states some parents have been collecting binders full of old, graded tests and sharing the assessments with other parents and high school students. Moving forward, teachers will create multiple versions of their tests and students will not be allowed to take tests home after the assessments are graded. (NCM)
4. The New England Patriots introduced Mike Vrabel as the 16th head coach in franchise history during a press conference Monday afternoon. Vrabel will look to rebuild the franchise he’s been associated with most during his NFL career. (WMTW)
