1. Mainers will see a slight decrease in their paychecks as contributions begin for the state’s new Paid Family and Medical Leave program. The fund will eventually provide 12 weeks of paid leave for family-related events, such as the birth of a child or caring for a relative. 3. Augusta, Lewiston, Portland and Bangor hospitals reported their first baby deliveries of 2025 yesterday. In Portland, MaineHealth welcomed Michael Nathan Mariato as its first baby of the year. He was born at 2:55 a.m. on Wednesday, weighing seven pounds and 12 ounces. (PH)

4. Apple TV+ is ringing in the New Year by offering an all-access pass for the first weekend of 2025 (January 3 through January 5). Apple TV+ will be free on any device where Apple TV+ is available. It’s the first time that Apple has offered something like this. (Apple)
