1. A Skowhegan woman is suing Northern Light after a surgeon removed her bladder instead of an ovarian cyst. Emily Mitchell later had surgery in Boston to build a new bladder from her intestine, where doctors discovered additional damage that made the operation harder and longer. (BDN)
2. Lyme disease cases are spiking in Maine and could hit a record this year. The Maine CDC says nearly 1,900 cases have been reported so far — that’s up 20% from this time last year. Experts say warmer, wetter weather is boosting tick activity, so protect yourself when you’re outdoors. (PH)
3. More wildfire smoke from Canada is moving into Maine this week, keeping air quality in the “moderate” range. Over the weekend, it was bad enough to trigger an alert for sensitive groups.
