1. A tornado watch was issued for parts of Maine on Sunday, but no twisters arrived. Maine has, on average, two tornadoes every year. Most of those tornadoes have been in the southwestern and central parts of the state. (WMTW)
2. Thousands of people from across Maine and beyond celebrated Pride in Bangor Saturday at the city’s annual Pride Parade and Festival. Over 140 vendors, including local organizations and businesses, attended the festival, almost double the number from last year. (NCM)
3. The price of Portland’s purple trash bags is going up – again. The cost of a roll of 10 regular-sized bags will soon increase $1.50 to $19. The city relies on the fees to pay for trash removal services. (PH)
4. Game 7 of the Stanley Cup is tonight in Florida. The Florida Panthers led 3-0 in this year’s finals, only to see the Edmonton Oilers storm back to tie the series at 3-3. If the Oilers win, it will be the first time a team has come back to win the Stanley Cup after being down 0-3 since 1942. No NBA or MLB teams have ever come back from a 0-3 deficit in a seven-game championship finals series to win. The Boston Red Sox did overcome a 0-3 hole to the New York Yankees in the ALCS in 2004, but that was before the World Series. (ESPN)
5. The US Postal Service is issuing a new Forever stamp honoring late ‘Jeopardy’ host Alex Trebek. PLAY AUDIO The stamp resembles the blue and white game panel with the prompt “This naturalized U.S. citizen hosted the quiz show ‘Jeopardy!’ for 37 seasons.” The underside of the stamp reads, “Who is Alex Trebek?” (NPR)
