1. At Monday’s Portland City Council meeting, Councilor Pious Ali raised safety concerns about Congress Street after receiving nearly 100 emails. Mayor Dion acknowledged the issue, citing challenges with shelter-resistant individuals. 2. Jellyfish warnings are in effect along the southern Maine coast. Ogunquit’s fire chief says six people were stung this past week, mostly by lion’s mane jellyfish—large, red or purple with long stinging tentacles. Smaller, clear moon jellyfish have also been spotted. If you see one, don’t touch it—alert a lifeguard instead. Even dead jellyfish can still sting.(WGME)
3. After a scorching day Tuesday, there’s one more hot stretch to push through before relief. Portland hit 99 degrees, breaking the daily record and marking the hottest June temp ever at the Jetport. Temps today will still reach the upper 80s to low 90s, but humidity will gradually drop. (WGME)
4. The NBA Draft kicks off Wednesday night at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, and all eyes are on Newport native Cooper Flagg, expected to go No. 1 to the Dallas Mavericks. Round one airs at 8 p.m. on ABC and ESPN, with round two Thursday on ESPN.
