3. A person familiar with negotiations says the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to acquire New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones for a sixth-round pick in next month’s NFL draft. The trade cannot become official until the new league year begins Wednesday and after Jones passes a physical. The move brings Jones home — he was born and raised in Jacksonville. (WGME)
4. President Biden says he would sign a bill to ban TikTok nationwide if the app is not sold by ByteDance, its Chinese parent company. This comes after the House Energy and Commerce Committee voted unanimously to advance the legislation. TikTok responded by sending a push notification to more than 100 million users urging them to call their representatives and oppose federal efforts to ban the platform. Donald Trump has reversed his stance and does not want the U.S. to “get rid of TikTok” on the grounds that it may benefit the Meta company. He wrote in a post to his Truth Social platform: “If you get rid of TikTok, Facebook and Zuckerschmuck will double their business. I don’t want Facebook, who cheated in the last Election, doing better. They are a true Enemy of the People!” (JN)
