1. The owner of Canton Wok in Lewiston has been in ICE custody for over two weeks. Xing Feng Dong was booked into Cumberland County Jail on May 6 and remains held without bail. The restaurant on Lisbon Street is closed indefinitely. Dong’s brother says he’s waiting for a green card and supports his entire family, including two young kids. Lewiston’s mayor called the arrest surprising and is working to learn more about the case. (WMTW)
2. Mt. Ararat High School’s athletic director, Geoff Godo, is resigning after nine years. In a letter citing personal and family reasons, Godo says he’ll step down August 1. His resignation follows a hazing investigation involving the boys hockey team, though he did not mention that in his letter. A search committee will now look for his replacement. (WGME)
3. Cape Elizabeth police are investigating a string of car burglaries in the Broad Cove and Trundy neighborhoods early Wednesday and Thursday. A suspect was caught on a grainy surveillance image. Police urge residents to lock vehicles and report any tips to Detective Ben Davis. (WGME)
4. Shaw’s supermarkets in Maine are recalling certain store-made Greek salads due to possible salmonella contamination linked to cucumbers. Two items with sell-by dates of May 20 to 24 are affected.
