2. Scarborough voters will soon decide on a $130 million school referendum called “The K-8 Schools Solution.” The plan includes major upgrades to several schools and a new building to replace Eight Corners School. A second question would add $10 million for a middle school expansion. Residents can vote absentee or at the polls on November 4th. (WGME)

The federal office that approves new beer labels and formulas is closed, meaning new brews can’t cross state lines. Sebago Brewing and others say the timing couldn’t be worse heading into the holiday season. (WGME)
4. People lined up in Augusta Thursday morning for the grand opening of the newest Reny’s. The store in the Capitol Shopping Center takes over the old Big Lots space, marking the Maine-based retailer’s 20th location.
