1. DAY 6 of the government shutdown! Acadia National Park remains open but largely unmanned as the federal government shutdown continues. Visitor centers are closed, rangers furloughed, and services limited. Despite that, crowds are still packing parking lots and buses to enjoy peak leaf season. Park officials say Acadia will stay “as accessible as possible” during the shutdown.

2. Portland may soon hike snow ban fines from $40 to $175 for cars left on city streets during parking bans. If the vehicle’s towed to a private lot, the fine drops back to $40 to offset the $135 tow fee. City leaders will discuss the proposal Wednesday, along with adding six new snow ban zones. (WGME)

3. Biddeford native Sammy Mills made his Maine Marathon debut in Portland and won with a time of 2:25:52, wearing his white UMaine singlet for the first time since 2022. On the women’s side, defending champ Emma Howe of Cambridge, Massachusetts repeated with a 2:45:24 finish despite battling a blister. Both runners took home $1,000 prizes. (PH)

4. The Patriots pulled off a Sunday night shocker in Buffalo, beating the Super Bowl–favorite Bills with a clutch game-winning field goal. Rookie QB Drake Maye shined in his first prime-time start, throwing for 273 yards, with Stefon Diggs hauling in 10 catches for 146 yards against his former team. (B25)

5. Busch Light is celebrating the 19th annual release of its Hunting Cans with a wild contest — offering one fan 19 years’ worth of beer money. The catch? You have to legally change your name to Hunter. The brand says the once-popular name has dropped 93% in the last five years, so they’ll even cover the paperwork and fees.
