1. Police in Ogunquit have confirmed they are on the scene of what they’re calling an “ongoing situation.” The incident is along the southern end of Main St. on Route 1. A heavy police presence, including officers armed with assault rifles could be seen near the Hideaway Inn in Ogunquit. Police are asking people to avoid the area. (WMTW)
2. Superintendent Richard Green says all Lisbon high school football activities have been suspended pending further investigation into hazing allegations. Parents say some players only found out about the program’s suspension an hour before a bus was supposed to go to their game. (WGME)
3. Walmart has announced that it will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. This will be the fifth consecutive year that the retail giant has been closed on the holiday, with the company saying in a statement that they want employees to spend Thanksgiving “with their families.” Target and Costco will also be closed on Thursday, November 28th. 4. Apple released the iPhone 16 without one of its most promising features. Apple Intelligence has been a major part of the phone’s marketing, but the AI feature wasn’t originally rolled out. Several sources report that Apple Intelligence will finally be available on October 28th via an iOS software update. Even with the update, all of the features won’t be available yet. Apple Intelligence will work on last year’s iPhone 15 Pro and the latest iPhone 16 models. (VERGE)
5. Burger King’s announced new menu items inspired by the creepy and kooky Addams Family. There’s the Wednesday’s Whopper topped with Swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, and onions all toasted on a purple bun that gets its hue from purple potato topped with black sesame seeds Also on the menu for a limited time are Thing’s Rings, Gomez’s Churro Fries and Morticia’s Kooky Chocolate Shake.There’s also an Addams Family crown and kids’ toys. The new BK menu items drop October 10th. (LW)
