1. A woman was hurt after an explosion and fire Tuesday at the former Schemengees Bar and Grille building in Lewiston, one of the sites of the 2023 mass shooting. The building now serves as a warming shelter run by Kaydenz Kitchen. Everyone made it out safely, but one woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause. (WGME)
2. Plans to bring the Back Cove Music and Arts Festival back to Portland’s Payson Park are on hold again. A City Council committee voted to delay recommending a three-year contract with festival organizers after a lengthy debate. Mayor Mark Dion called the process “frustrating,” while Councilor Kate Sykes said the deal was “half-baked.” Organizers warn the delay could jeopardize a 2026 return. (PH)
3. A Maine man was arrested in New Hampshire after police say he was caught driving 152 miles per hour in a 55 zone. Effingham police say 45-year-old Bryce Legere of Limerick was behind the wheel of a Chevy Camaro on Route 25. He’s charged with reckless operation, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and excessive speeding. (NCM)
