1. Scarborough High School is offering counseling today after the sudden passing of Assistant Principal Jacob Brown. Brown had been assistant principal since 2020, after years as a coach and athletic director in the district. He was also a longtime youth hockey coach in Biddeford. Officials say students and staff can attend counseling sessions starting at 10 a.m. instead of regular classes. (WMTW)
2. A Winslow man survived a terrifying crash Sunday after his car plunged into Cobbosseecontee Stream off I-295 in Gardiner. State police say 27-year-old Brandon Nale fell asleep at the wheel before hitting a barrier and launching into the water. He managed to escape and swim to safety with only minor injuries. (WMTW)
3. Couples across Maine say they’ve been left heartbroken and out thousands after Bangor-based Simply Catered by Bethany suddenly canceled contracts. The Attorney General’s office has logged 17 complaints in just the past two months. Brides and grooms describe late arrivals, missing food, and no refunds — with some losing as much as $20,000. The caterer emailed clients earlier this month saying she couldn’t issue refunds and advised couples to seek chargebacks through their banks. (PH)
4. The FAA has launched a new program to make flying taxis a reality in the U.S. The three-year pilot will partner with aviation experts and local governments to set safety standards.
