1. Portland police say they’ve solved a more than 30-year-old cold case. In October 1994, a fire on Washington Avenue killed Maude Holden. Witnesses recently came forward, leading investigators to Vickie McMahan, who set the fire at her apartment door. McMahan died in 2023, but police say the Holden family finally has answers. (WGME)
2. Sanford is launching a 60-day trial of surveillance cameras in six downtown intersections, including Main and Washington. Police say the Flock Safety cameras will mainly read license plates to help with AMBER alerts, stolen vehicles, and criminal investigations. Critics worry about privacy and potential access by ICE. Results will be reviewed by the city council after the trial. (WGME)
3. Major changes are coming this weekend. Areas that hit 80 Thursday could see frost or a freeze early Saturday, with lows in the 20s and 30s in the mountains and 30s along the coast. (WGME)
4. Is there a Chick-fil-A coming to Biddeford? A site map shows a possible spot at Biddeford Crossing, but the chain says, “We do not currently have any locations to confirm.” Chick-fil-A has two Maine restaurants, in Westbrook and Bangor. (SBN)
