1. Central Maine Power sent 20 line crews, consisting of over 50 workers, to assist in restoring power to areas devastated by Hurricane Helene.  The Category 4 storm has left millions without electricity across the Southeast. Helene’s death toll has reached 95. (WMTW)

2. Both the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Portland Police Department have tested new AI software to write their police reports. They say it helps them save on hours of paperwork so they can do more policing. Some experts question whether it will actually save time, or if it will only bog down and raise more distrust in the criminal justice system. (PH)

3. JD Vance and Tim Walz will face off tomorrow night in a vice presidential debate. The debate, hosted by CBS News, is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. and is set to last 90 minutes. (PH)

4. 7UP Shirley Temple is coming to stores nationwide. From Oct. 15 through Dec. 31, fans can get a canned and bottled version of the pomegranate and cherry-flavored mocktail. Shirley Temples are typically made by combining a lemon-lime soda, like 7UP with grenadine and maraschino cherries. (People)
