2. A Driver in Dover-Foxcroft came across a man sleeping in the road at 11:30pm Friday night. The man was lying flat on his back across the roadway with his arms outstretched above his head. The driver woke the man up and he walked off toward nearby houses. Dover-Foxcroft Police Department said they were not aware of any similar incidents in town, and that best practice would be to call 911 in case the person needed medical attention. (BDN)
3. Labor Day weekend traffic was up slightly over last year’s end-of-summer holiday, the Maine Turnpike Authority reported Tuesday. A total of 1.1 million transactions with Friday being the busiest day. (PH)

Nine people bid on the “Portrait of a Girl.” When the hammer fell, a private collector from Europe paid $1,410,000, believed to be a new record for the most expensive piece of art ever sold at auction in Maine.
