1. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with last week’s crown jewel heist at the Louvre in Paris. Prosecutors say one of the men was caught trying to leave the country from Charles de Gaulle Airport. Thieves took less than eight minutes to steal jewels worth over $100 million from the museum, using a lift to scale the building and smash display cases before fleeing. CNN’s K-File reports it uncovered past posts by Democrat Graham Platner on Reddit suggesting he knew for years his since-covered-up tattoo was a Nazi symbol but didn’t see it as an expression of white supremacy. The report also says two acquaintances claim Platner described the tattoo as a Nazi symbol years ago. (WGME)
3. Nearly two dozen hikers had to be rescued from Mount Washington after getting caught in an early-season snowstorm. They reached the 6,300-foot summit to find a few inches of snow and strong winds — many wearing only sneakers. Train crews from the Cog Railway brought the shivering hikers down, some showing signs of hypothermia, and charged the standard $61 fare for the ride. (WMTW)
4. The Portland Hearts of Pine closed their regular season with a 2-2 tie, securing a playoff spot but on the road. Portland finished seventh, setting up a quarterfinal matchup at No. 2 Chattanooga Red Wolves. (PH)
5. The convergence of all four major U.S. professional sports leagues happens tonight. The Sports Equinox takes place when there is at least one game from the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB on the same day.
