3. Portland voters approved Question A, raising the city’s minimum wage from $15.50 to $19 an hour by 2028. The measure passed with 64% support and will start with an increase to $16.75 in January, aiming to keep wages in line with the city’s rising cost of living.
4. Mainers spotted a mysterious glowing spiral in the night sky Tuesday — but it wasn’t a UFO. Experts say it came from the Ariane 6 rocket launch out of French Guiana. The spiral effect happened when excess fuel froze into ice crystals high in the atmosphere after launch.
