1. Fire investigators say there’s no sign of foul play in the blaze that damaged multiple waterfront buildings on Custom House Wharf in Portland Friday night. The fire hit storage areas for fishermen and lobstermen and several businesses. 2. A high school student in Washburn has died following a snowmobile accident on Saturday. District officials call the loss devastating and say a support gathering will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Washburn District High School for students and community members. (WMTW)
3. A winter weather advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. At the request of Maine State Police, speed limits have been reduced on the Maine Turnpike from the New Hampshire line to the end of the Maine Turnpike at Mile 109. (WMTW)
4. The ECHL and the players’ union have reached a tentative new labor deal, bringing an end in sight to the players’ strike. Pending ratification, players will report and prepare to return to play. 5. Mainers will soon pay more on popular streaming services. Starting January 1, Netflix, Hulu, Spotify and other digital streaming subscriptions will be subject to the state’s 5.5 percent sales tax.
