1. Two MaineDOT workers were killed and another injured in a horrific crash Tuesday morning on I-95 in Waterville. State police say a minivan failed to stop at a work zone and cut off a tractor-trailer, sending the van into the crew. The driver had two young children in the vehicle, who were not hurt, and investigators say the driver has a lengthy criminal history. The crash remains under investigation. (WGME)

2. The Trump administration is ending Temporary Protected Status for Somali immigrants, a move that could impact thousands nationwide and communities in Maine. Some Somali nationals would be required to leave the U.S. by March 17, though legal challenges are expected. (PH)

3. President Trump is lashing out at members of his own party, including Maine Senator Susan Collins. The president called Collins and other Republicans “losers” and “disasters” after they voted with Democrats to limit future military action in Venezuela without congressional approval.

4. An astronaut from Maine is heading back to space. Caribou native Jessica Meir will launch to the International Space Station in February on an eight month science mission, her second trip, helping prepare future missions to the Moon and Mars. (WGME)

5. McDonald’s is planning major menu changes for 2026, including what could be its biggest burger yet. The new “Big Arch” stacks two beef patties, white cheddar, crispy onions, lettuce, pickles, and special sauce on a poppy and sesame seed bun. It’s already in Canada and would cost around nine bucks in the U.S., though McDonald’s hasn’t officially confirmed it. (Independent)
