A$AP Rocky taught children about rap music in his native Harlem during an episode of Celebrity Substitute! Rocky, who was Mr. Mayers to the class, expressed happiness about returning to Harlem, where he grew up, and noted this was the first time a rapper participated in the program at the school.
The lesson included a crash course in rap fundamentals, where students flipped their names into rhymes and learned about song structure, subject matter, and even music-related math. He built a professional recording studio in the classroom, allowing students to record their verses over his track PUNK ROCKY and providing hands-on experience in music production.
Throughout the session, Rocky engaged with students on a personal level, patiently answering their questions about his life, including inquiries about his age and his relationship with Rihanna. The lesson culminated in the students creating and choreographing their own video for an original rap. Check it out below!
