As part of this year’s If You Can Hear Her, You Can Be Her series, I talked with Rachel Kopcyzk, AKA the Lady on TV, about building a career in media, adapting to change, and creating community for women in Maine!
Rachel’s path into media started early. Inspired by childhood favorites like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and fueled by a summer camp for aspiring reporters, she discovered a love for storytelling that would shape her future. That early curiosity turned into a multifaceted career spanning hosting, acting, and producing.
Throughout her journey, Rachel has learned to evolve alongside the industry. As media trends shift and platforms change, she has embraced the challenge of staying relevant while remaining authentic to who she is as a storyteller.
Beyond her on-screen work, Rachel plays a powerful role in building community. During the pandemic, she took over the Portland Women’s Social Circle, transforming it into a supportive space for women of all ages to connect, network, and lift each other up. The group has become a meaningful outlet for mentorship, friendship, and empowerment!
When asked about her proudest moments, Rachel shared stories about impactful interviews and the ways her work has helped others feel seen and supported. For her, success is measured not just by career milestones, but by community impact.
Her advice to young women is simple: pursue your passions fearlessly. Say yes to opportunities. Stay curious. And don’t be afraid to evolve. Listen to our full interview below!
