1. Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Woodbury of the Searsmont Fire Department has died from injuries he suffered in the Robbins Lumber explosion and fire last month. Woodbury, 76, was one of several first responders injured in the blast that also claimed the life of Morrill firefighter Andrew Cross. Officials say Woodbury passed away Sunday at Maine Medical Center, bringing the death toll from the May 15 disaster to two. (WMTW)
2. A beach house at Wells Beach was destroyed Sunday after investigators say leaking propane tanks in the basement fueled a massive fire. One person was injured and two neighboring homes were damaged. The fire caused power outages and major traffic backups along Atlantic Avenue, with some people reportedly stranded for hours. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating. (WGME)
3. Ranked-choice vote counting continues in several key Maine races following last week’s primary election. In the Democratic governor’s race, Dr. Nirav Shah leads the first-round count. The Republican governor’s race and the Democratic primary in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District are also headed to ranked-choice tabulation. State officials expect final results before June 19th. 4. The Carolina Hurricanes are Stanley Cup champions for the first time in 20 years. Carolina shut out the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in Game 6 to capture hockey’s biggest prize. 5. The New York Knicks are NBA champions for the first time in 53 years. They beat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 to win the series four games to one. Finals MVP Jalen Brunson scored 45 points, setting a new Knicks Finals record, as New York rallied from a 16-point deficit to clinch the title. Celebrations erupted across the city, with the championship parade set for Thursday. (ESPN)
