1. A judge has denied Lindsay Clancy’s request to be found not guilty, clearing the way for a second murder trial. Judge William Sullivan ruled prosecutors presented enough evidence for a new jury to decide whether Clancy was criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children. Her first trial ended in a mistrial last month. (BA)
2. Maine’s three candidates for governor faced off in their first televised debate Thursday night. Democrat Hannah Pingree, Republican Bobby Charles and independent Rick Bennett debated taxes, housing, energy costs and healthcare, while also trading attacks over their records and experience. The candidates are scheduled to meet for three more televised debates this month. (PH)
3. An 82-year-old pilot escaped with only minor injuries after a rare vintage plane flipped over at Brunswick Executive Airport Thursday. The plane had already landed and was taxiing when it flipped over. The 1930s Kinner Sportwing is extremely rare, only eight were ever made, and this is believed to be the only one still in existence. 4. Senator Susan Collins says her Bangor home was egged about a week before her Biddeford office was vandalized. Collins says eggs were thrown across her garage door, front porch, window and front door. Her chief of staff called it another example of harassment and said Collins “will not be intimidated.” (WMTW)
5. Phil Pressey is returning for a second season as head coach of the Maine Celtics. He’s the first Maine Celtics head coach to return for a second year since 2019. Pressey led the team to a 27-23 record and its fourth straight NBA G League playoff appearance last season. (PH)
