1. Larry Lord, the man credited with saving lives in the deadly gas explosion that rocked Farmington more than three months ago, is again in serious condition at Massachusetts General Hospital. Lord’s condition was upgraded from serious to fair in November. (WMTW)
2. This year, Maine enacted LD 832, which requires cable operators to allow cable subscribers to purchase cable channels and programs individually. Cable companies are suing the state over the law and a federal judge has temporarily blocked the law while the case continues to play out in court. (News Center Maine)

AAA estimates nearly 5 million New Englanders will travel this holiday season, from December 21 through January 1, the most since they began tracking travel in 2000.The mostly calm weather around the nation is helping at the airports. Traffic on the roads is expected to be its worst on Thursday, the day after Christmas. (WGME)
4. Richard Ellis Spurrier was handing out gifts to passersby in St. Petersburg, Florida, when he was approached by police. They spotted some weed on his sleeve, and proceeded to find 45 grams in his backpack. When asked why he was handing out the marijuana, Spurrier replied, “Because it was Christmas.” (Tampa Bay)
