1. The U.S. tops 6.3 million coronavirus cases with over 190,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported 21 new cases on Tuesday. No new deaths have been reported since Friday. Maine’s death toll is 134 w/ 476 active cases.(WMTW)
2. Some students at Bates College have reportedly been sent home for defying public health guidelines. Bates confirmed that a number of students had been sent home but declined to say how many or give information on the alleged infractions. (WGME)
3. The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) and State agencies have reached a consensus on the guidelines for the fall sports season. The finished documents will be finalized and shared with schools at some point today. (NEWS CENTER)
4. A New Hampshire woman was barred from voting because she was wearing an anti-Trump shirt that read “McCain Hero, Trump Zero.” The state bans electioneering at voting places. Election moderator Paul Scafidi said he stopped her, and told her “she was going to have to cover her shirt.” The woman then asked if he wanted her to take off her shirt. “I said, I’d rather she not,” Scafidi said. “But she took it off so fast, no one had time to react so the whole place just went, ‘Woah,’ and she walked away, and I let her vote.” Scafidi said he decided not to escalate the situation by calling authorities. 5. The defending NBA champion Raptors rallied to beat the Boston Celtics in double overtime 125-122, forcing a Game 7. Friday’s Game 7 will be the 33rd Game 7 in Celtics history — they’re 23-9 all-time — but have lost four of their last seven. The winner on Friday will move on to face the Miami Heat. (ESPN)
